The looks that slayed at Lakmé Fashion Week

FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 just got over, and the fashion world is abuzz with the incredible energy and inspiration that the event has brought forth for the year ahead. While the west dominated in terms of style, it was also evident that Lakmé Fashion Week had its own global share of style statements through designers that brought to life some of the most inspired couture. Let us take a look into the exclusive fashion they donned and the charisma they transpired.

Aurora - Limerick by Abirr n’ Nanki & Nirmooha

Nanki took inspiration from Farzana Wahid's works, a.k.a Miss Aurispace, who is the first female street artist in Afghanistan when coming up with his latest collection called Aurora. The designer's signature use of ethereal light fabrics and sheer textures are highlighted by the use of metal and sequins. Debasree Roy, in a sheer tunic featuring geometric cutouts, paired with a chandelier earring, hammered metal clutch, and beaded sandals, was the show stopper at Lakmé Fashion Week – day 4.

Payal Singhal - R | Elan™

There is no doubt that Bollywood trends have the capacity to make a splash anywhere in India. Even as some ensembles made us question their practicality, the yellow lehenga choli was a welcome breath of fresh air. It offered the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary, bringing to the forefront a style that has not yet been explored - traditional athleisure.

Anamika Khanna - Timeless The World

With an amalgamation of colours and a bold approach to traditional Indian textiles, Anamika Khanna's collection was inspired by the many quick-changing feelings and emotions that one goes through. The designer has played with drapes, straight borders, heavy embellishments, a multitude of fabrics and textures, all-encompassing gowns, flowing lines, and quick dashes of colour and light to create a wardrobe that one would like to wear from sunrise to sunse

Shantanu & Nikhil - #SNSafari

The fashion designers Shantanu and Nikhil, have one of the most successful fashion lines in India. The duo is known for making a success out of their fashion line, and they are back with a collection that aims to inspire and innovate. Considered to be sharp and edgy, this collection presents a luxury gateway wardrobe that appropriately supplements various designs that complement both men and women's aesthetic. Bold, inspired, and athletic - this one truly took the night away with its celebratory spirit and safari chic style.

FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week 2021 was a spectacular event promoted through fashion videos and fashion films on social media, but it was also an opportunity for the participants to showcase their silhouettes on the ramp. The live shows saw participation from the who’s who of showbiz and fashion, including Karisma Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Anamika Khanna, and Rohit Bal. Of all the glitz and glamour, only a few looks were truly worth the showstopper, and we certainly believe that these looks successfully fit the bill.
